नई दिल्ली, 8 जून। दिल्ली में पहलवानों के प्रदर्शन के दौरान उनके साथ पुलिस के धक्कामुक्की और डिटेन करने के तरीके पर डब्लूएचआरओ ने पुलिस कमीश्नर संजय अरोडा को पत्र लिखा है। साथ ही ये मांग की है कि उच्च अधिकारी सुनिश्चित करें कि धरने प्रदर्शन व न्याय की मांग के दौरान उनके मानव अधिकारों का उल्लंघन न हो। इस पर पुलिस मुख्यालय से आए जवाब में कहा गया है इस पत्र में किए गए अनुरोध को स्पेशल कमीश्नर ला एंड आर्डर को भेज दिया गया है।

वर्ल्ड ह्यूमन राइटस ओर्गेनाइजेशन के चेयरमैन योगराज शर्मा ने मीडिया को बयान जारी करके बताया कि डब्लूएचआरओ के लीगल हैड एडवोकेट सन्नी सचदेवा ने गत 29 मई को पत्र लिखकर कहा था कि देश के हर नागरिक को उसके मानव अधिकार व मौलिक अधिकार है। पुलिस अपनी कार्यवाही में ये सुनिश्चित करें कि उनके मानव अधिकारों का उल्लंघन न हो। पुलिस इस पत्र पर संज्ञान लेते हुए गंभीरता जताई। डब्लूएचआर को एक फोन करके भी आश्वासन दिया और इसके बारे 8 जून को एक मेल भेज कर जवाब भी भेजा है जिसमें उन्होने विषय को स्पेशल कमीश्नर ला एंड आर्डर को इस विषय को सौंप दिया है। डब्लूएचआर के चेयरमैन योगराज शर्मा ने उचित कार्यवाही करने पर पुलिस कमीश्नर का आभार जताया है।

New Delhi, Jun 6 (PTI) A new book takes a look at the social consequences of Maoist insurgency with a special focus on Dandakaranya in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region.
In "The Death Script: Dreams and Delusions in Naxal Country", journalist Ashutosh Bhardwaj writes of his time in that region, of the various men and women he meets from both sides of the conflict, bringing home with astonishing power the human cost of such a battle.

"In Bastar, I witnessed death closely for the first time in my life. The experience was overpowering, unsettling, as well as humbling. I met many people in the jungle who challenged my beliefs and perceptions. Their dreams and sorrows introduced me to a world I had not known about," he says of his book.

"Now in its sixth decade, the Maoist insurgency is one of the biggest challenges before Indian democracy. A vastly uninformed and misinformed discourse has ensured that it has not received the critical and public attention it deserves," the author says.

"And Dandakaranya is possibly the biggest graveyard of independent India... But the residents of this forest of mahua are often able to overcome the gathering darkness. This book yearns to record their seemingly quotidian yet epic life," he says.

The book's earliest drafts were written as personal notes in Bhardwaj's diaries.

"At some point I also conceived of it as a novel. Eventually, it took the form that it has now - a narrative in multiple voices and styles," he says.

The book, published by HarperCollins India under its Fourth Estate imprint, is releasing this month.

Rahul Soni, executive editor at HarperCollins India, says Bhardwaj unearthed tales that might otherwise have remained untold.

Narrated in multiple voices, the book is a creative biography of Dandakaranya that combines the rigour of journalism, the intimacy of a diary, the musings of a travelogue, and the craft of a novel, the publishers said.

Through the prism of Maoist insurgency, the book also looks at larger questions of violence and betrayal, and love and obsession.

NEW DELHI, June 6, 2020---Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of stooping too low to play base-level politics by blaming private hospitals to cover up his absolute failure in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic in Delhi, which has seen a sharp upsurge in the last one week, as Delhi scales up to the third position in overall Corona cases in the country. Ch. Anil Kumar said that it took Kejriwal over three months, after the first Corona case was reported in Delhi on 2nd March, 2020, to realize that the private hospitals were doing “black marketing” of beds for Corona patients at premium costs, when the Corona pandemic has gone out of the hands of the Delhi Government. Ch Anil Kumar said that by blaming the private hospitals and admitting his helplessness, Kejriwal was trying to gain sympathy from the people, though the people of Delhi had seen through his lies and deceit a long time ago.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Delhi Congress had time and again been bringing up the issue of private hospitals extorting money from the patients, as with the treatment facilities in Government hospitals in a disarray, people were forced to seek treatment from private hospitals, which resorted to cash in on the misery of the people on account of the Covid pandemic, but Kejriwal gave no heed to the suggestions and complaints by the Opposition parties as he chose to act like an autocratic. He said that due to Kejriwal’s unilateral decisions, the people of Delhi are being forced to pay a heavy price as the Corona pandemic seems to have gone out of control of the Kejriwal Government.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that if Kejriwal refused to take constructive suggestions and finds himself cornered from all sides now with the Corona pandemic spreading like wild fire in the Capital, he alone was  responsible for the present mess. He said that despite the launch of the Delhi Corona App by the Delhi Government, if the private hospitals are still not giving beds to Corona patients, it was solely because of the incompetence and ineptness of the Kejriwal Government. 

Ch. Anil Kumar said that instead of accepting his own failures and incompetence in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic, Kejriwal  is now blaming  private hospitals for not admitting Corona patients. He said that Delhi Congress has been appealing to the Kejriwal Government that Covid treatment should be made free for all, both in Government and private hospitals, but he did not listen to the  Congress plea.Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal used to boast about the AAP Government’s “achievements” on the health sector during the elections, but when confronted with a challenging situation, his lies were thoroughly exposed.

Ch Anil Kumar said that the health sector has been in a total mess in the Capital, which the Congress has been pointing out for the past many months. He asked Kejriwal where are those additional beds in hospitals, the new hospitals the AAP Government had supposed to have constructed and the “much-acclaimed” Mohalla Clinics the Kejriwal Government had setup, as these were not to be seen anywhere when the people of Delhi needed them the most.

In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man was stabbed to death on Monday allegedly after he informed the owner of a house about some people drinking on his building rooftop in Delhi's Patel Nagar area. The deceased man is a resident of Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar. On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, some people were drinking alcohol on the rooftop of a house at Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar, police said. Shah informed the house owner about it. On Monday, the six accused, aged between 16 and 20, came to intimidate the man and his family with sticks, rod and knife. Two of the accused stabbed the man and his son.

Shape of under-construction Satellite flyover won't be changed ...Work resumed on the Deonar flyover nearly a month after all work including construction was halted following the nation wide lockdown imposed since March 21 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
The civic body has allowed work on private construction projects in non-containment zones only if construction workers are available at the site and no workers should be brought from outside.
Even though the state government has allowed some industries and services to function in districts, which have lesser number of COVID-19 patients, Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner, Praveen Pardeshi has revised the guidelines for Mumbai. With around 721 containment zones in the city, industries will not be allowed to function, but only private constructions can take place in non-containment zones.
Meanwhile, the increase in the number of positive patients has slowed down but the number of containment zones in the city has increased sharply. Till Saturday, the number was 575, which increased by 149 in a single day.

Delhi Fire Services (DFS) director Atul Garg said around 2.42pm, the fire control room received a call regarding a suicide attempt by a patient at Safdarjung Hospital.
Safdarjung Hospital witnessed high drama on Sunday afternoon after an orthopaedic patient allegedly undressed, climbed onto the window’s overhang on the third floor and threatened to kill himself, police and fire officials said.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) director Atul Garg said around 2.42pm, the fire control room received a call regarding a suicide attempt by a patient at Safdarjung Hospital. The man claimed that he Covid-19 positive and threatened to slit his wrist and infect rescuers if they tried getting close to him. The patient also started spitting on a team of doctors and police personnel who were trying to rescue him.
 “The rescue team members placed a net below the building so as to save the man even if he was to jump off. He was later somehow convinced to come down and rescued,” said Garg.
An official from the Safdarjung Hospital authorities, said, “The man was not infected. He is an orthopaedic patient and had some breakdown. He was breaking things. The doctors sedated him and took him back to the ward where he has been undergoing treatment.”

MUMBAI: Amid lockdown, a woman from neighbouring Navi Mumbai found herself completely helpless when two hospitals refused to admit her husband, a lawyer, who had suffered a heart attack.
After running from one hospital to another in an ambulance, when Jaideep Jaywant (56) was finally admitted to a medical facility, it was too late, his distraught wife Deepali, who is also a lawyer, said.
She said in the initial days of lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus, it was her husband who had taken an initiative to supply essential items to harried neighbours, but he died without getting timely help.
The victim, a resident of Sector 17 in Vashi area of Navi Mumbai, had a massive heart attack on April 14. He collapsed after having lunch.
"I could feel his pulse. There was still life in him. I immediately called an ambulance and rushed him to a nearby hospital," his wife said.
"But, the security guard at the hospital did not even open the gates. They said they admitted only COVID-19 patients and no (other) emergency," she said.
They then went to a municipal hospital in Sector 10 but were not allowed inside. They subsequently proceeded to D Y Patil Hospital in Nerul.
"By the time we reached there, 30 minutes were wasted and he was declared dead," the grief-stricken wife said.
"Can't there be any medical emergencies other than Covid-19 during the lockdown? Is it right for hospitals to turn away patients needing emergency medical aid?" she asked.
 The woman said she can't seek action against the hospital in her neighbourhood since she has no evidence against it.

"General practitioners are all closed. Where do ordinary people go?" she asked.

NEW DELHI: Families in 72 houses in a locality in Delhi's south district have been told to observe self-quarantine after a delivery boy associated with a famous pizza chain tested positive for Covid-19, a district magistrate of South Delhi said on Wednesday.
According to DM B.M. Mishra, a delivery boy from a famous pizza chain in Malviya Nagar area tested positive on Tuesday, following which the authorities immediately decided to quarantine his 16 colleagues at the outlet. A detailed trail was followed to identify each house where food was delivered by the outlet.
"We have found that 72 houses had taken delivery from that outlet and hence everyone has been told to follow precautionary measures and be under self- quarantine," Mishra told IANS.
He added that there was no need to panic, as he had informed all the delivery boys to use masks and follow the safety measures while executing a delivery. But the decision to send all contact persons to quarantine was 'necessary' as a precautionary measure.
The said delivery boy is now undergoing treatment at a hospital, while others who came in his contact are being monitored on a daily basis.
Some of the orders from this outlet were also made through food delivery giant Zomato, which said that while all colleagues of the delivery boy have tested negative, as a precautionary measure, the restaurant has now suspended operations for the time being.
"All the co-workers of the said rider have tested negative and as a precaution, the restaurant where the rider worked has suspended operations," a statement by Zomato said.

NEW DELHI: Soon after procuring rapid antibody test kits, the Delhi government on Sunday began testing people for coronavirus in various containment zones spread across the city, officials said. Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday said the AAP government has acquired 42,000 such kits.
The rapid antibody tests were initiated in Delhi on Sunday for all the containment zones across the national capital, the officials said.
The number of containment zones in Delhi on Saturday had increased to 76, with eight new zones being added in various areas in one day.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital on Saturday climbed to 1893, with 186 fresh cases and one death being reported in a day, according to the Delhi government authorities.
Two kinds of diagnostic tests are being currently prescribed for use in India -- the RT-PCR test and rapid antibody test -- as per global health norms.
A reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test is a laboratory technique combining reverse transcription of RNA into DNA that detects the virus while the antibody tests, which use blood, detect the body's response to the virus.
In rapid antibody test, the result will be positive only if the antibodies have been generated. So, even if a person is infected but the antibodies are not generated, the result will come negative.
RT-PCR test takes time and is a costly affair, because of its elaborate kit. On the other hand, the rapid antibody test is less expensive and the result can come in 20-30 minutes, experts said.
Rapid antibody tests are generally used in hotspots where the infection is found concentrated in a given area.
A hotspot is a zone from where a large number of positive cases are reported.
Of the total number of 43 fatalities reported in Delhi till Saturday, 24 of the deceased were above 60 years, making over 55 per cent of the total death cases, the authorities said.
Nine of them were aged between 50 and 60 years, and 10 were aged less than 50 years, officials said.
Meanwhile, 31 members of an extended family, including children, residing in north Delhi's Jahangirpuri area, a portion of which has been declared a containment zone, have tested positive for Covid-19, the officials said.
The civic authorities have carried out mass sanitisation and disinfection drive in hotspot areas in the past several days using drones and other measures.
Door-to-Door surveillance activities are being carried out in identified cluster containment zones, and a total of 1,047 samples have been collected from different clusters and sent for testing, the officials said.

PUNE: Mumbai’s main wholesale market for vegetables, fruits and spices will reopen on April 15 with adequate precautions and steps to address the grievances of traders, a top official said after a meeting of traders, government officials and police chiefs of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane took place on Sunday.

“We had called a meeting of all the stakeholders today (Sunday). It was attended by traders, labour leaders and police officials to resolve the issues being faced by the market functionaries,” Maharashtra’s principal secretary (agricultural marketing) Anoop Kumar told ET.

Grain traders, who had decided to shut down indefinitely from Monday, said they would reopen as soon as their issues were resolved. Vegetable traders were also optimistic that their grievances such as police harassment would be redressed soon.

The market was shut down on Saturday after a spice trader in the Masala Market tested positive for Covid-19, which created panic among workers and traders, and prompted authorities of APMC-Vashi, to order the shut down. Grain traders had decided to shut down the market indefinitely from Monday.

“Traders and labour representatives will meet again on Monday to fine-tune details of starting work again while taking care of everyone’s safety,” said labour leader and MLC Narendra Patil, who attended the meeting.

Someone might tell you DTC buses are standing somewhere. No DTC bus is taking you anywhere. Please don’t get lure otherwise the outcomes will be bad. Please stay at your homes. We need to unite to make this lockdown successful.”

NEW DELHI: A doctor allegedly committed suicide on Saturday morning in south Delhi's Neb Sarai area, police said. A suicide note recovered from the victim's house stated that AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal was responsible for his death, they said.

The victim has been identified as Rajendra Singh (52), a resident of Durga Vihar, police said.
According to the police, Singh hanged himself with the help of a rope at his house.
A tenant noticed the body around 5.30 am and informed his family members, a senior police officer said.
The body was sent to AIIMS for postmortem, he said.

Meanwhile, the victim's son alleged that his father used to run a clinic in the locality and was also in the business of water supply with the Delhi Jal Board since 2007, police said.
A case of extortion, abetment of suicide and threat has been registered against the Deoli MLA, one Kapil Nagar and others at Neb Sarai Police Station based on a complaint by the victim's son, they added.
